How to read guitar tablature part 3 cotinues getting more advanced. In this next installment on how to read guitar tablature we are going to go over pull-offs. Pull-offs are really just the opposite of hammer-ons. Instead of going forward with the notes with pull-offs you go backwards. In tablature the pull-off technique will be designated with a letter "p" and an arc above the note(s).

This technique is accomplished by striking the first note and then literally pulling your finger downward to pull off the string to the next note.
